DMX Output Boards: Compare Features

5.3mm Power Jack
? When using a BeagleBone Green as a host (as all of our current Conductron Host Device's do), power must be connected directly to the board. This is because the board requires more power than can be supplied through the BeagleBone Green's connected USB jack. The power connected to the DMX output board is also supplied to the BBG, allowing this single power connection to power the whole device.

"Cape" Size
? Our DMX output interfaces are known as "BeagleBone Capes" in the BeagleBone community. This meansurement indicates whether the cape extends to fill the full area available to an add-on Cape, or only partially covers the available GPIO pins.

Enclosure-Friendly
? Devices are listed as "Enclosure-Friendly" when their DMX output jacks are on the edge of the device's footprint, allowing them to protrude from an enclosure. Note that these boards, (when using a BeagleBone Green as a base, will need a power jack on the outer panel to be extended to the board. This is because the power connector on the board is not able to extend to the edge of the device.

When present, jumpers on the board can configure the DMX/RS-486 connectors as inputs or outputs.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Although this is supported on the DMX interface hardware, current Conductron software DOES NOT currently support DMX-IN functionality.
