This being deployed very remotely, I didn't get to observe many people looking at this piece. My partner and I visited the installation at night, and were honored to find that someone had chosen a spot leaning up against a Suntree as their ideal spot to watch the festival. It was my favorite moment of the experience, and I quietly captured it in the nighttime shot shown here. To me this was a confirmation that these sculptural plants offered some of the same comfort and support that a real plant (like a tree) does, and that I had successfully captured some 'plant' energy in the piece. It is remarkable how an installation seems to takes on energy of its own once in the world, and communicate its messages, with others and one's self. This is the magic of installation design that I am so in love with.
